Being a person with MS i feel i should share my own experience with cannabis, using a super pubic catheter as i do i was prone to UTI infections to the extent that towards the end of 2017 and through into 2018 for over 5 months of catheter changes, 4 different antibiotics, umpteen flushes used with no results, i decided to try cannabis. 4 weeks ago i started taking a teaspoonful of cannabis in a small amount of hot water as a brew once at tea time each day, since then my UTI's have cleared completely, my pain is reduced and the dreaded night time legs spasms are gone. oh and i've stopped 2 meds as well. My experience with cannabis has changed my life for the better.

A subject not generally or freely spoken about it Death, it's something inevitable to all of us living of which conversations seem to be avoided. Death remains a taboo subject for many people to talk about openly. At times when it needs to be discussed, it can be the ‘elephant in the room’. By getting people together in an informal environment, with no agenda or themes in mind but a simple, group-directed discussion, the aim is to to demystify and take some of the fear out of end-of-life awareness and leave feeling better about it. Topics can be philosophical or straightforward, highly personal or entirely general, but it isn’t designed to be a grief support or counselling session. The main guideline is of “tolerance for others' views”. “The main objective is to make the most of our finite lives by remembering that we are all going to die. “(The benefits are that) it encourages us to plan for our death and not put it off.“ Funeral planning is no exception, and having that conversation openly can be a good thing. Planning ahead for a funeral - to pay for it and letting people around us know our wishes - can save money, time and stress for grieving family members with so much else on their mind at a time of raw emotions. death cafe 1.docx

Care home and Hotel respite sharing holidays opportunities. During a recent holiday break to Bournemouth my family and I discovered a fantastic solution to us all being able to holiday together stress free, I have MS at a fairly advanced stage which means that I have to be assisted with every aspect of day to day living IE washing, toileting, getting in and out of bed, dressing, eating and drinking. This as you can imagine places a great deal of pressure and stress on my nearest and dearest which would have equated to them not getting a well needed rest themselves or in my situation my wife not getting rested. Therefore my family booked our usual Bournemouth hotel and i booked into a local care home for respite care, in doing so all my needs were taken care of in the mornings and nights and I met up with my family during the days to go out and about, having a power wheelchair also meant I could come and go as I pleased making life even easier for me and the family. During my stay which was fantastic for all concerned I had discussions with the Care Homes Business Development Manager (Justine Cowell at the Meyrick Rise Care home Bournemouth ) why such facilities as holiday respite for the disabled weren't more widely promoted by the Care Homes and Hotels accommodating such families as ourselves. Surely there is a business opportunity for both to promote such facilities in cooperation with each other to help families with disabled members enjoy holidays desperately needed by all without the day to day stresses that are involved in care. I have already booked again for two stays next year and can't wait. I now intend to peruse and propose these questions to holiday hotels and care homes in as many seaside resorts as i possibly can hopefully bringing an awareness to families with disabled members and to businesses out there just how much they can help each other in our communities. Anyone wishing to discuss this posting for more information can contact me at the Doncaster MS group, i hope this can enrich somebodies life as much as it has mine. Regards Paul Griffiths
